Quickly lapping up more than 30,000 views, Tommy Johansson (Sabaton, Majestica) cranks the heat with his new Power Metal cover of Taylor Swift‘s “Anti-Hero” off her new album, Midnights. No exception to the original, Tommy once more shows off his vocal range, absolutely topping up the speed, and giving us the hefty riffs we’re always craving.

Packed with emotional impact, and soaring highs, this cover, debuting on November 25th 2022, adds Metal finesse to a slower, and still tenaciously Taylor track. Not without a bombshell solo, and beautiful ascension, Tommy’s version takes the back-and-forth of the original, making it flashy, sassy, and just as fun. The slow pick-up, with a solid drum beat, quickly builds, and as “it’s me,hi,I’m the problem, it’s me,” kicks in, you can’t help but move along. With its quirky storyline and catchy chorus, this song was an instant replay on the original album upon my first listen, and now this cover sits alongside it.

Tommy is no stranger to speeding up and amplifying popular hits like The Weeknd‘s “Blinding Lights“, and 90’s classics like “Viva Forever” from the Spice girls, and “Show Me The Meaning of Being Lonely” by BSB. He’s even touched on classics like Gary Moore‘s “Over the Hills and Far Away” (my personal favourite) and Blondie‘s “Call Me” to name only a few. Adding in speed, shreds, and his impeccable vocal skill, it’s only a matter of when, not if, he’ll cover another hit.
