After taking the world by storm with ‘Escape The Phoenix’ (2021), Gothenburg’s finest creation of darkness, EVERGREY paves another pathway with their new album ‘A Heartless Portrait’ debuting May 20th, 2022 via Napalm Records.

With the previously released thunderer, “Save Us”, EVERGREY unveiled their searing passion for emotional provocation and progressive heaviness. As of March 24th, 2022 the second single off the upcoming album, titled “Midwinter Calls” pulls the listener deeper into this world of instrumental darkness, and feverish creativity. This powerful track really smacks us with intensity, utilizing heavy drums to kick things off in high gear while continuing forward with melodic riffs, and divine vocals.

This track is fueled by atmospheric build-up, from the rainy haze creating a foggy woodland, to the rustling leaves and panicked breath. Flashes of darkened rooms filled with clasping hands on frightened, confused bodies amplifies the emotion, while the crimson backdrop to the band’s performance in the video adds another layer of fear. The back and forth of lyrics flowing through the lips of misunderstood band members, their survival instincts and the villains driving them into the darkened unknown add cinematic-level ferocity to an already heavily energized track.

As told “Midwinter Calls” is visually brought to live via a sophisticated, cinematic music video, filmed by Patric Ullaeus and conceptually connected to the story-line portrayed in the “Save Us” video, allowing the viewer to jump even deeper into the universe of A Heartless Portrait (The Orphean Testament).
