With extraordinary storytelling skills, and their reputation as a band that’s hard not to watch, Ukrainian metallers Ignea are finally ready to reveal their eagerly awaited, next chapter in epic adventure. Combining wondrous lyrical content alongside blistering riffs with electronic, symphonic, and multicultural folk pieces, the melodic metal quintet will release their next concept album, Dreams of Lands Unseen, on April 28th, 2023 via Napalm Records. Ignea moves forward from their bide, having stunned international metal fans with popular releases like “Alga“, “Disenchantment“, and “Jinnslammer“, racking up a number of views on YouTube along, and recently receiving honours at the Best Ukrainian Metal Act Awards.
Despite the brutality happening in Ukraine that’s caused immense challenges with their album’s production, Ignea never lost hope while creating their cinematic universe for Dreams of Lands Unseen. Standing strong and holding ground, they are proud to unveil their ingenuous journey – taking listeners by the hand and welcoming them to listen along as they explore new realms.
The first single revealed, “Nomad’s Luck“, does just that. Listeners are transported on an epic adventure that showcases Ignea‘s extraordinary storytelling skill through only a sliver of song. The track is a mere fraction of the concept that awaits in the album’s entirety but, the Ukrainian metal force is more than willing to keep the mysticism and enchantment alive throughout their performance and their sound.

“‘Nomad’s Luck’ is about all the dangers of the road. Traveling on her own to the distant corners of the world, Yablonska could have died multiple times, from poisonous plants and diseases to superstitions and taboos of the natives. She could have settled down but her will for discovering new places overshadowed any risks. In this song, it’s as if Yablonska questions herself, how long she would last this way, ‘pushing nomad’s luck’…”
The 10-track concept album, titled Dreams of Lands Unseen, reflects upon the life of Ukrainian documentarian and photographer Sofia Yablonska, who is known for traveling to the furthest corners of the world while documenting the lives and daily workings of tribes and natives, which is not only dangerous but, quite uncommon for a woman of her time. Captivating, Ignea unfurls a masterful creation of cinema-level performance, combining genre-influences from diverse sources to reveal a world unlike any other. Producing, mixing, and mastering was done by Max Morton (Jinjer, Morton) whilst Dimtry Kim managed engineering and drum duties.
