Rockshot Records is proud to reveal the united and emotionally raw debut album As The World Tree Fell from Canvas Of Silence. Exploring themes of downfall, transformation, and rebirth, this new era brings with it a dive into “The Great Unknown“, a track that brings both clarity and renewal to the helm; reflecting on the band’s evolution of identity and experience, and as such comes with the reveal of their new vocalist, Aino Vuorenmaa.
The band says:
“We are beyond excited to share our debut album “As the World Tree Fell” with the world. The album is an emotional journey through vivid contrasts of heavy and melodic, complex and catchy, alluring female vocals and energetic riffs, all entwined with symphonic elements. Listeners can expect intense atmospheres, proggy twists and larger-than-life choruses.Close your eyes, take a deep breath and embark on a cathartic sonic voyage. Silence will never sound the same. What comes to the concept of the album, the title ”As the World Tree Fell” ties the songs together. “Falling” is the key word of the lyrics;the feeling of everything falling apart, be it in personal life or the world around you. And you are just someone who watches it from afar and cannot affect it, holding on to the edge for dear life. But then again, as the album draws to an end, you start to see the light, you hear a promise in the wind, that spring is there, on its way. You let go of the edge…and let the World Tree fall. Maybe to start the cycle again, maybe to find yourself in some place better.”

The album begins with the title track, “Watching the World Tree fall,” that sings to us on the edge of a wave-clashed cliffside. Storms bring unyielding tides to an already eroding shore as lightning ignites the sky. There is a softness on the wind, but the burden of torrential rain snuffs out the last breath of relief. A wicked introductory track, heavy riffs beat against solid drum lines, building suspense and setting the story out before us until the vocals cascade in just before the 2 and a half minute mark. Aino doesn’t shy away from vocal brilliance, utilizing her skillset to paint defeat and frustration alongside revelation and resurgence.
“These ruins were once our home, your lap once our throne. Time to leave you alone. Take back what’s your own.”
It’s the perfect balance of cataclysm and prophecy that paints a new journey upon the fall of a broken world. A brilliant set of stars twinkling, fighting against darkened clouds, yet there is no chance to return.
A quick follow-up comes with “Humanimal“, a fast track with unbridled heaviness in its heels. It’s raw and vicious, coming at you like snapping jaws. Yet there is an air of elegance at its helm, as if a lady of light leads an army of beasts into the throngs of war. It’s a catchy track that I found myself easily singing along with on the second play-through. It’s like a reflection of inner turmoil, the fight we hold within as we struggle to save face fighting the demons that dwell deep below.
“We live to see it all, inside our being, in this world. We are the Human Animal. We have our love to destroy the beast we see in the mirror.“
“Drown” drips in at the album’s halfway point, bringing with it an air of dread. As eerieness turns to full-blown metal power, this track crawls down moss-covered, stone walls and into your shadow, striding along your every step.
“Watching the night sky falling down. Pouring its coldness to the ground. Reaching this shelter I found. For this emptiness I will drown.”
Every lyrics line in this song gets under your skin, creepy and dark as Aino sings it oh so sweetly in your ear. It’s got that head-banging essence every fan loves, yet I can’t seem to pull away from the lyrics from beginning to end. The sweetness turning sour, raw and hoarse like the dead springing back to life. It’s one track that really lingers on your mind, and skin.
“One With The Wind” carelessly walks along the flooded shadows, once again taking strides on beautiful lyrics filled with tragedy and woe.
“As you read this I’m already gone I’ve woven my shroud out of the beams of the dying sun. Tonight we will descend as one.”
It’s such an upbeat track, that still carries on an almost whimsical essence of forget-me-nots and longing. It’s the ghost left behind in the hollow sense; a sheer curtain reminding of one’s dress. Dew drops on flower petals reminiscent of your tears as you watched the sun rise. Lyrics in this one are striking, bold and oh so delicate, topping it off as my second favourite from this album and an easy listen again and again.
“Time is now, the road ends here. All directions disappeared. Wind rises, go on, you must dare to live.”
It’s such a tragic track, but one that holds so much promise and light. A re-listen for any fans of story-bound tragedy and purpose.
My favourite off the album, and one that pulled me into Canvas of Silence‘s entire sound is “The Great Unknown.” It’s the rush of the moment; embracing the darkness and flicker of light before you that takes you on a new path; one of self-discovery and freedom.
Standing as one of the album’s most powerful creations, and a whole of their dynamic identity, this track takes the band’s brilliance to an entirely new level. Melodic roots are amplified by an unwavering atmosphere with intense delivery and vicious back-up. Unfolding with fire reborn, the emotional heaviness of this track rises once again with greater passion and precision.
“I’m on the quest to the Great Unknown. Searching the path through horizon to lead me home.” is strong enough when delivered on its own but its accompanied by such divine deliverance its hard not to just bask in awe.
If you would ask how many times I’ve listened to this track alone, I’d tell you it’s more than 20, that’s the best I have. Accompanied by the music video that I’ve watched at least 10 times, this was an easy add to the daily playlist.

For fans of Pain of Salvation, Nightwish, In Flames, and many melodics. For those pulled to music that provokes, moves, and changes, you will find an open world to explore with Canvas Of Silence’s debut album, “As The World Tree Fell,” released on October 31, 2025.
