I’m still here with As I Speak’s release “In Vain”

Date: January 16, 2026Author: Valkyrjia 0 Comments

Passionate heavy-hitter As I Speak emerges in 2026 with an emotional new track titled “In Vain“.

Created by Zach Cunningham in January of 2021, As I Speak brings in the tales and tribunals of an experienced artist who has played across the country including Warped Tour and has opened for musical greats like Otherwise, September Mourning, Flaw and others. Influenced by early 2000’s post grunge to modern day synth and alternative, As I Speak is a hard rock project that doesn’t stay from depths. Shortly after releasing his debut single, “Still Breathing“, As I Speak signed with Solunar Records and was featured on the Overnight film soundtrack with his own version of Bad Omens – “Just Pretend“.

With delicate keys introducing us to this surmounting tragedy, vocals stride in calm, and unwavering. As instrumentals rise, we begin to feel the depth of emotion at the root of this track. Constricted by contemplation and consequence, we linger in pains and unknowns. Utilizing rigid riff work, and those tranquil keys, we see the emotions charged and changing, from the sorrow and darkness in a cycling mind to the anger in raw vocals as a gentle “in vain” comes out like a murmur, a whimper, hitting straight to the heart. Without shying away from a killer exit solo, As I Speak once more delivers a track filled with story and strife; a memory now severed and unbound, yet unforgettable. As we take steps through reflection, choices and words unspoken, we understand that people change, and the future is always uncertain, yet somehow, sometimes, we linger on what used to be, what could have been, and what once was.

Once again rivaling previous, passionate releases “Mend“, and “Surrender“, As I Speak still aims to conquer his own works, striving not to best himself but rather put himself on full display, with raw emotion, passion, and skill. As this artist continues to grow, looking back on previous releases, you see his tale and begin to understand that each track is not its own destination but simply a piece of a bigger, more powerful journey.
