Seethe’s double release brings double the mayhem

Date: February 22, 2024Author: Valkyrjia 0 Comments

Metal and mayhem go hand in hand when it comes to American music releases, and this time our eye is on the hockey heavy Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. On January 19th, independent artist Seethe unveiled 2 stunners back-to-back off an upcoming EP set due to release in mid-2024.

“Plunder” brings the familiar inspirations, pulling texture and sound from those like Static-X, Deftones, Scarlxrd, and the Queen of the Damned soundtrack. It plays out low and slow with eerie undertones and fascinating soundscapes. The introduction brings a trance-like heaviness that captivates, ensnaring listeners and baiting them with alluring vigor and curiosity. Vocals on this track flow in a familiar yet unique rhythm, offering homage to the track’s inspirations whilst still standing out. I thoroughly enjoy the playful mix of metal strengths and electronic experimentation that allow this track to hold onto its mesmeric sway whilst keeping listeners on their toes.

“Plunder” will be featured on the upcoming EP Good Mourning Wrath.

“Wax” has a more upbeat tone to its introduction before doing a complete 180, dropping us into a trap-like combo of bludgeoning bass and rigid vocal madness. Off the upcoming EP And when the angels sing of our laments, our names will spurn our final breath, this track grants us a tasteful mix of Seethe’s musical range. Switching gears from the metal flavor, “Wax” is an eclectic blend of noise and rhythm, carefully curated in a manner that gives listeners an emotional outburst to relate to, as well as a soundscape to vibe with.

“On wings of wax and rust, float so high above, as the sinners blush casting stones, their egregious bluff,” opens the track with poetic contemplation; while “on wings of wax, venture towards the sun,” foretells the misfortune that alludes to our once boastful ambitions.

Born in 2020 amidst the covid-19 pandemic, Seethe spread out from the creative mind of 9 Stitch Method vocalist Patrick McElravy. With his emotionally weighted vocal strength a call to the early 2000’s Nu Metal era, and the distortion of electronically charged Trap Metal artists like Scarlxrd and Ghostmane, Seethe seeks to set his own path ablaze. Pulling inspiration from the past and remixing them with futuristic aspirations, Seethe sets the bar beyond the clouds, climbing ever higher. Opening for acts like King 810 and featured in the publication ‘Nu Metal: The Definitive Guide’ alongside Nu Metal giants like Korn, Deftones, and others, Seethe’s career shows both strength and promise.
