Stormy seas bring about Tomorrow’s Outlook and their single “Silver Ghost”

Date: November 28, 2023Author: Valkyrjia 0 Comments

Norway’s Tomorrow’s Outlook unveil spectral fear with their latest single “Silver Ghost” off their upcoming album Black Waves set to drop in early 2024. This 10-track sequel to 2018’s A Voice Unheard is mixed and mastered by Sascha Paeth (Avantasia, Masters of Ceremony) and includes the second single, “Silver Ghost“, with which an official music video has now been released!

The concept behind the song:

In the year 1905, Hanna was a hard-working northern Norwegian woman whose husband had tragically just passed away. She took on his duties as lightkeeper at Steglholmen near Gressholman, the old trade centre in Vågsfjorden south of Harstad. For more than 20 years she dutifully kept the light shining, guiding the ships safely past her post and on their way. The light was often exposed to the harshest of weather, but the job was an important one for more than one reason – the homestead they had bought when her beloved husband was still alive must be paid for, so the money was needed.

The work was challenging, both physically and mentally. Crossing the dark, stormy sea in a small rowboat, that’s one thing. Another was the ever-present knowledge that once upon a time, this was the place of execution for three murderers whose remains were mounted on stakes and left there until time and nature had done away with them. As the black waves beat her boat and the wind howled at her light, she often glimpsed their horrific spectres beneath the foamy sea. But Hanna remained a brave and dutiful human, and she stood ever firm in the face of these trials.

Black Waves is a concept-based album inspired by real events from the coastal area that surrounded the Gressholman peninsula from 1748 to the early 1900s. In this album we are given the astounding story of a horrific double murder which shocked a small community, and the former vital trading post that met its untimely demise by fire centuries later. These tales are mostly told through the perspective of those involved, whose stories are built on fear, superstition, and beliefs traditional to the northern regions of Norway.

Being based out of northern Norway, Tomorrow’s Outlook is not only inspired by their homeland but, have come to be known as one of the most passionate, and aspiring bands of their region.

Using the term ‘Arctic heavy metal’ to describe their sound, they take the beliefs and influences of their home to bring in both lyrical theme and gloom to their music.

After 15 years as a studio project, founding members and songwriting partners Trond Nicolaisen, Andreas Stenseth and Øystein Kvile Hanssen took a chance to push everything to the next level and become an actual band. Completing their lineup with singer Tony Johannessen (Thunderbolt), drummer Owe Lingvall (Nocturnal Rites) and guitarist Valentino Francavilla (White Skull), the band not only moved from studio-bound project, but to aspiring metal legends.

The lyric video for “Silver Ghost” was created by Stereo 27 Productions with its live footage shot at The Gressholman Festival by Aktiv Events. All concepts and ideas were formulated by Tomorrow’s Outlook. Additionally, Rado Javor, who created previous works for the band, including 2018’s A Voice Unheard, once again provided the beautiful artwork.
