Sonata Arctica set to return from the Clear Cold Beyond

Date: November 27, 2023Author: Valkyrjia 0 Comments

After 5 long years, Sonata Arctica returns with their upcoming studio album – Clear Cold Beyond due out on March 8th, 2024 via Atomic Fire. Spurred by the excitement of their latest release, “First In Line“, the melodic metal force can no longer hold back the details of their highly anticipated new album.

Containing 10 spectacular new tracks that touch upon the band’s power metal style and classic foundations after returning from their acoustic adventures, Clear Cold Beyond is filled with strength, passion, and fantasy. Taking a page from each of their previous releases, this album is not only filled with the high-octane rhythms of the past but the emotional and exquisite devotion of ballads alike.

Tracks like “First in Line” and “California” conquer speed while “The Best Things” and the title closer offer somber reflection, giving Sonata Arctica fans a taste of everything. The album’s artwork, reminiscent of past creations, is done by Niko Anttila whilst mixing returns to Mikko Karmila (Finnvox Studios; Ecliptica (1999), Stone Grows Her Name (2012). Not to be out-shined by the mastery handled by Svante Forsbäck (Chartmakers West; Rammstein, Korpiklaani, Delain, The 69 Eyes, Deathstars, etc.) who has been a part of previous Sonata Arctica productions.

Vocalist Tony Kakko comments: “We’ve felt for a while now that we needed to get heavier after a couple of unintentionally softer albums. We still love those albums, but in terms of finding cornerstone songs for a feel-good melodic metal show, the previous album didn’t have much to offer. We’re getting back to metal after all that feels like a fresh start, and the new songs have been so much fun to write and record: More speed and songs that people can and want to sing along to. We can’t wait to hit the road with this album and see how the crowds react to us being back at it.”

The new digital single, “A Monster Only You Can’t See” drops December 8th, 2023! Pre-save now!
