In excitement of their upcoming album, Descent, set to drop on August 18th, 2023 via Seek & Strike, one of Sweden’s finest Metal mega powers, Orbit Culture, release the second single titled “From The Inside”.

(Firstly, it’ll be ‘happy birthday’ to me, as this album drops only a couple days before my actual birthday, and I have been riding the Orbit Culture hype train for far too long to remember!)

But more importantly, is there anything this band releases that isn’t immediately jaw-dropping?

From Odyssey’s “Tellus” and “The Planck Distance” to In Medias Res’Obscurity” and “Blacksphere” to the more recent Nija with “North Star of Nija” and “Open Eye”, Orbit Culture has brought forth hit after hit, and bludgeoning, thunderous sound without a single misstep.

Having given me my own unstoppable playlist repeats like “Wings of a Dragon”, “Sun of All”, and the newest, “Vultures of North,” Orbit Culture gave me and many others a breath of fresh air when all around we felt as if we were drowning.

Now, the newly released “From The inside” with its accompanying music video sees Niklas Karlsson’s vocal prowess stand on an icy shoreline, pelting us once again with outstanding intensity. Not to be outdone, Richard, Fredrik, and Chris conjure their passion and fire to bring brute force and instrumental oddity into a breath-taking performance that still has me in awe.

Never ceasing to amaze, these guys create a world of tension and turmoil that’s curled around viciously expressed but deep and meaningful lyrics.

No one leaves and no one ever left. The bolt of self-hate ignites the flame,” – of madness, of loss, of shadow. We are encased, shielded, fearful of what we let through.

You’ll see through the ice, but you cannot reach it,” is sung sorrowfully, yet with such fire its impossible not to find yourself screaming along.

It’s yet another track that gave me chills, pinning something to my spirit and speaking to a piece of me I’d long forgotten. Orbit Culture, once again, has a strange and powerful aura about them, and “From The Inside” is no less empowering as the very fervor they put forth in each single, each performance, and each album. I cannot wait for this album; truly it will be the shimmering beacon in a quick but fiery summer.
